| The DVD |
| Many of the original super-8 movie films recorded during this study have been transferred to DVD and made a companion to this book. Typical chewing and condylar movements for children and adults depict normal occlusions and various types of malocclusions. Worn and unworn teeth are compared. Dr. Parker E. Mahan describes EMG recordings of the masticatory muscles, including the superior and inferior heads of the lateral pterygoid muscles. The 2-hour DVD, which supplements material in the text, relates total jaw movement to both anterior and posterior teeth building a foundation for understanding the principles of occlusion and reasons for restoring the teeth to natural, esthetic form. Both text and DVD may serve as highly visual teaching materials for undergraduate and graduate dental students, study clubs and continuing education programs. |
